Ottoman Makeover

I have been doing a makeover to my front room and have pretty well painted everything white and still had this wine colored ottoman that stuck out like a sore thumb. Recently I found a sheet with pink roses on it at a garage sale for $1.00 and just loved the print. I have been wanting to cover this ottoman for some time now. Sooooooo............................
I put my sewing machine into ACTION!!!! I must tell you this Singer sewing machine was purchased in 1968 brand new by my dear Grandma as a graduation present to me. I have sewn on this very machine my entire adult life. It is now 42 years old and still running strong!!!!!! I could get a new machine but I can't bear to part with this memory of my sweet grandma.

I cut the sheet to the dimensions to fit the top, lined that piece to make it double for durability. Then I measured to the floor for the side ruffles plus a seam allowance and gathered two sheet length pieces, and gathered, and gathered. Then I attached the ruffle to the top piece.

Checked for fit, ahhhhhhh perfect, and added a couple of bows to each side of the ottoman.

And wa-la, such a difference it makes in the room, I just love it and it took me about and hour and a half and $1.00 to make.

I have always loved making things over out of something else, I guess that is the thrifty farm girl in me. LOL

Now I don't have that wine, out of place sore thumb any more. Hope it inspires you to change something you don't like in your home.

Bloggerette Sorority Rush Party

I am one of over 137 bloggerettes who have joined the Bloggerette Sorority hosted by Karen of Some Days Are Diamonds and Friday is the big RUSH PARTY. The rules for the rush party is that we had to create something with the above picture and take a picture of our creation and take our personal picture with our creation.
My creation was this pink (of course) journal so that I can journal all the great happenings we encounter during this fun trip with all the other members. Yes that me, Ginger.

I really enjoyed creating my little journal, adding lace, ribbon and roses and even a glitzy crown at the top. I used my sewing machine to attach the image pieces together.

And it has a pocket on the front cover and one on the inside to save little goodies I encounter.
Don't you love that image, I'm in love with it.

In fact I was sooooo in love with it I created a necklace with a part of the image also and added a glitzy chrystal dangly to the bottom of it.

In fact I was sooooo in love with the image, I just couldn't help myself but to make a second journal, a little different in style, but with the same image with a doily, lace and pearls, flowers and ribbon and some little gems between the binding.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my little creations for our rush party and I am anticipating a lot more fun from this great sorority of bloggerettes. It should be fun!!!!! And thanks Karen for all your hard work creating this great sorority for us. Be sure and check out all the other creations from the rush party at Karens blog.
Hugs

Rhondis Porch Party

Today I am participating in Rhondis Porch Party hosted by Rhondi of Rhondis Rose Colored Glasses blog where we are all showing our porches. Be sure to check out her blog on June 21 for all the different showings of some neat porches. I have made pink lemonade and am inviting you to set and talk awhile as I show you the rest of my humble little patio space.

This sweet little fairy lady keeps me company in the early mornings when I come out here and have my morning coffee before I go to work.

My patio isn't very big, but I have a lot of seating for company and I soooo enjoy this space. I love to come out in the mornings and take pictures of nature and listen to all the birds singing. I even have a cardinal that loves to look at himself that will come and set on the window and peck at himself. Crazy bird!!!

My lavender and roses were blooming beautifully a few weeks ago when I took this picture.

Sometimes I bring my laptop out and set on the wicker settee and look at all my bloggy friends posts for hours on the weekends, until it gets too hot or a darn mosquito starts bugging me.

I love yard and garden ornaments and I have a lot of them scattered around my yard.

This is my view from the patio, I have fresh herbs planted in the pots and a dear friend I worked with retired and moved to Louisiana to live with his daughter. He has had the cactus in the wagon for over 30 years and he left it to me to have. I pamper that cactus in honor of him. When we had the recent hail storms I decided to put it in the wagon and I could roll it under shelter to keep it safe.

This bunny swings in my tree. He makes me SMILE!! :) :)

See bunny swinging in the background? This is my fairy garden I can view from the porch.

Another yard ornament and the flowers beside the patio. Aren't these gerbera daisies great?
Well I hope you enjoyed having lemonade with me and setting awhile.....now hurry and go see all the other great porches at Rhondis blog.
XOOXO

Where Bloggers Create/Pink Saturday

I have been so excited about the anticipation of this party hosted by sweet Karen Valentine of My Desert Cottage who is hosting " Where Bloggers Create II". I was not a blogger when she did the first one. I am also participating in Pink Saturday hosted by our gracious hostess Beverly at How Sweet The Sound. Be sure to cruise on over and join both parties and see all the fabulous PINK posts and everyones studios where so many beautiful creations are born. I have so many different interests with my crafts, I love paper crafts, fabric crafts, painting roses, almost everything and being able to see all the inspiration of my fellow bloggers, sometimes I feel like I am on overload because I want to try everything....and I usually do!!
This is my little sanctuary away from everything, where I go to take my mind off all my troubles and I consume myself in making something beautiful. This used to be my daughters bedroom before she left home. I left it as a SHRINE to her for a while, you know, the empty nest thing..... and then.......it became my little studio. It's not very big, but I love it. I keep a lot of my tools and materials in the hutch to the left and I feel I have it organized now to where I can find what I need but it still needs work. Never enough room.

I have my buttons in an old spice turntable bin, my ribbon in plastic jars, color coordinated, my flowers in color coordinated jars, my lace wrapped around cards, etc.

I have made some of my organizers, such as this old vegetable can I covered to put my scissors and various things in on my table where I work.

Recently I gave the cabinet another coat of paint and it looks much better. See the sewing machine drawer Rebecca painted her roses on? I keep my smaller flowers in that.

A closeup view of my table. I bought a plastic sheeting and put over my tablecloth for easy cleaning.

Some of my lace I wrap around cards, much easier to see what I have to work with this way. I keep it in a basket.

This sets on my table, just think it is pretty and it holds all my little findings.

I have glitter bottles everywhere, I LOVE GLITTER!!!! Hence the name Glitter and Roses.

Another stash of glitter in salt and pepper shakers I found at my thrift store. (My DH left me that note on the bar before leaving for work on Valentines Day............ ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh :)

Some of the ribbon and flowers I color coordinated in jars. Makes it so much easier to find.

This is my inspiration board and notes from all of you wonderful blogger friends that have sent me notes.

One of the bulletin boards I made out of a canvas and just covered it with chenille and made a pocket with pretty pink cotton fabric. That is me and my dear Mom.

My button keeper in the old spice turntable. Color coordinated of course.

Even my toothpicks I use for crafts get a pretty little container I made.

This desk was dark wood when I purchased it for $20.00 and I put some crackle finish on it and use it for my printer and laptop.

These are some of my creations I make in my little, humble studio. Love making flowers and the pincushion bracelets.

This is a closeup of a tag I made, loooove tags, they are so useful for gifts, journals, etc.

And of course I keep my two favorite people with me at all times in my craft room, my beautiful son and daughter. These pictures are not very recent but they are a couple of my favorites.
Speaking of my daughter, be sure to head on over and see her beautiful home she is showing this week. You will be amazed at the transformation she made on her little home. It is Pink and gorgeous!!!!! Her blog is Tammys Sweet Heart! She is a newbie and I know she would love for you to visit her.
I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my room of creations. Come back soon, I'm headed out to see all your lovely studios and corners where you create!!
Hugs to all of you
