More Christmas Decor

A close up of my new white tree in my dining/tea room. I just love it.
A side view, I looooove PINK and white.

The wooden stockings I made last year, with baubles and dangles.

The candy and cookie bar on my Grandmothers old buffet.

My new precious ornament from Rebecca at Gather Ye Roses, isn't it beautiful.

Same candy/cookie bar, I made the mittens earlier when I first started blogging.

My tea buffet, didn't my daughter do a wonderful job on this? I have decorated a gingerbread kitchen tree, a bedroom tree and the mantle over my fireplace yesterday. OH, and I helped my sweet Mom put up her tree also yesterday. I'm tired. Going to church and resting today.

CHRISTMAS DECORATING

These are some wooden stockings I made last Christmas Season that are decorated with scrapbook paper and embellishments, I have them hung across a mirror.
Aren't my fake suckers cute on my candy bar. Do you know how hard it is to find pink candy? Does anyone have any ideas for pink candy? Only thing I can come up with is trying to find some of the pink and pastel colored saltwater taffy. Guess I will have to order it online!!

I absolutely LOOOOVE my dining/tea room. This is the first year I have had a tree in this room and I am really loving it. See the skates at the bottom?

This is my lovely daughter, we had such fun today decorating. And I enjoyed both my son and daughter yesterday at Thanksgiving, we spent most of the day together, decorated the tree in the den (you can see that tree in distance) and then played scrabble. Had a wonderful day with my family.
Today is Black Friday, I went out at 8:00 AM to go to our local video store to check out some bargains, well I should have known when I saw the parking lot.....but I forged on and parked and went to stand in line with probably 50 people ahead of me, I was going to get $20.00 off the price of my item.... well, that lasted about 3 minutes and I got back in my car and came home...that was my first black friday experience and it will be my last. But after I got home my daughter came to my house and we started decorating my home for Christmas. She had already done her home, (you should see it, it belongs in Romantic homes) so she offered to help me, so of course I took her up on it and this is what we did. She does such a great job at decorating and she loves to do it. I always decorated for every holiday when my kids were growing up and I think it stuck with her and now she loves to decorate too, beautifully, she has a special talent for it.
I will post more pictures of my decorating on future posts. Hope you enjoyed these.

PINK SATURDAY

I went to my local antique store last week, I had spotted a pair of white, old, yucky skates that looked like they had promise to be the beauties I knew they could be so I grabbed them up for $15.00. Wish I would have remembered to take a before picture of them. They were in pretty bad shape, the insides were falling out, the shoestrings had definitely been used a lot, they were almost thread bare, the skates were skuffed and battered. But with a couple of coats of pink paint and some pretty ribbon and fur on the tops they are once again beautiful. I added glitter to the blades and a little on the very bottoms of the skates to make it look like they had just come off the ice. I plan to put these by my white and pink tree in my tea/dining room. I can't wait to decorate. I am putting up 3 trees this year. Too many? Next week after Thanksgiving I will start.

Thank you Beverly for hosting Pink Saturday again. Go on over to How Sweet The Sound and check out all the Pink Ladies who have posted their pinks too!!!! Have a Pink weekend. Thanks for stopping by to see me, it means a lot to me.

WHAT IS IN A NAME?

Sares at Loveleigh Treasures is hosting a Name Party Thursday, Nov. 19. Go on over to her blog and check it out.

My NAME subject is my Mom, Mary Neal. She is a twin to a brother Teddy Neal. Mom said when she was born my grandparents named her Mari Neal but when she went to school the teacher ( in about 1933) told her "that is not how you spell Mary" and the teacher made her spell it Mary instead of Mari, so from then on she had to spell her name Mary Neal but on her birth certificate it was Mari Neal. I don't think that is right that someone could change your name just because it was not correct spelling.

No matter how it is spelled, my Mom is probably the sweetest person you would ever want to meet. She only thinks of others, not herself, she is so unselfish, caring and loving and I can't think of a time that I ever heard her get angry with anyone. She loves her family and would do anything in the world for them. My dad said one time about my Mom, "If ever there was an angel on earth, it is your Mom." He is right! Mom, you're the best Mom in the world and I am so blessed you are mine!!
Mom told me they looked in the spice cabinet and named me Ginger. Hope she was kidding!!

ANOTHER PINK SATURDAY

My tearoom/dining room in my home is very special to me. This is where I keep all the wonderful teapots, teacups, creamers, and all the dishes I find at the antique store. I loooove feminine dishes, especially the ones with roses on them. The german dishes seem to be my favorite. I have soooo many dishes I have to store them in cabinets, boxes and suitcases all over the house. This picture was taken at Easter time with some of my depression glassware. I stole the bunny place setting idea from my daughter and used scrabble pieces for the word bunny on the table.

This picture was taken later in the summer and the table is set with rose dishes.

This hutch sets behind the table for the food. It also stores a lot of my dishes below.

Both of grandmothers in my family were crazy about pretty dishes also so I guess I come by it naturally and I can't resist anything that has pretty roses printed on it.

I absolutely LOVE tea, there are so many flavors, my favorites are Earl Grey, lemon, chocolate mint, rooibos there are too many to list. Drinking tea relaxes me and when my daughter, my mom and I have a tea party it is like being a little girl again and playing dress up. Tea parties put you into a different time and place. If you haven't tried it, give it a try, you will love it. There are so many different themes you can put to your tea party. My daughter has a mothers day tea for my mom and myself almost every year and she makes it so special for us. Hope you have enjoyed looking at my special room. Thank you for having tea with me!!!

Thank you Beverly for hosting PINK SATURDAY. Check out all the other ladies blogs on her site that have participated at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/

Glitter the World Challenge

After reading Tiffanys post on her lovely blog at http://shabbyscraps.typepad.com I decided to do my part to make the world a better place by glittering the world. I have always loved glitter, it makes dull things shiny and adds extra sparkle to anything it touches.
I challenge all you sweet crafty bloggers out there to show us something with glitter, lets see if we are trying to change the world to be a better, glittery place. Thank you Tiffany for the lovely post.

Feels Like Fall

As I had posted a week or so ago, I didn't know if I should paint my fireplace or not.....and after much consideration I decided I would go at it in steps. So I painted my brown mantel an off white yesterday. I love it, love it, love it. I think I will give myself until Spring to decide what I really want to do about the brick, I read that once you paint the brick you can not get it off and if you want to sell your home, it may be harder to sell...... so we will see, I would imagine by Spring I will be ready to paint. LOL So I decorated the mantel for fall and I think it is beautiful with the lighter color to offset the walls. What do you think?? Do you think it helped?

I love to decorate with little birds. The ones in the picture above are in a nest all cuddled up together, they are so sweet. The bronze glittery, they have to be glittery..... poinsettas are the ones my daughter and I bought at Hobby Lobby recently. My daughter left hers in the bag until she was ready to decorate for fall, well...........her new puppy Sissy found them and when she was found, she had glitter from nose to tail and demolished the flowers, pumpkins and all... so my daughter had to replenish her supply. We laughed about it. Don't you know that puppy had a good time with those pumpkins????
Hugs and Happy Fall

PINK SATURDAY #2

This is my second PINK SATURDAY and these are just some random pink eye candy. My crepe myrtle bush was outstanding this year, hated to see it quit blooming, and I can't believe I still have impatients blooming!!!
I found the birdhouse at an antique shop, it was plain white, I painted some roses on it, found a green pole on a stand at a garage sale and attached the bird house on top, added some beads and now it adorns my bedroom.
The suitcase was a $5.00 find, repainted it and painted some roses and now I use it for extra dish storage and a great stand for decor.
The little pink polka dot card is one I made for a birthday card, but you could use it for a tea party invitation, a thank you, or thinking of you card. Fun to make.
Thank you Beverly for hosting PINK SATURDAY for all us ladies who love to meet and discuss our love for beauty!!!! Go see Beverly at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com and meet all the ladies who participated this week.
Have a wonderful PINK SATURDAY!!!

MY HATS

This is my hat collection which I truly love. When my daughter hosts her famous teas at her home, my mom, myself and my daughter usually wear hats to make the event even more fun.
I have added some flowers, ribbon and beads on some of them but the little brown number is just like I purchased it at the antique shop. Isn't it beautiful, I especially love the rosebuds that hang down on the side. I am always on the look out for more beautiful hats and try to imagine what events these were worn to. Does anyone else out there love hats like I do?

Ginger
